    Upcoming EVs India 2026 Launches

The Indian EV market isn't slowing down. 2026 has already seen the Maruti e-Vitara, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and Tata Punch EV facelift. What's still coming is equally significant, from the long-awaited Tata Sierra EV to the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric.

Here are all the upcoming EVs in India worth tracking.

    The Big Ones: Mainstream Launches

Toyota Urban Cruiser EBELLA: Expected ₹16–19.5 lakh | Q2 2026 The Toyota Urban Cruiser EBELLA is among the most anticipated EV launches in the mid-range segment. Built on a shared platform with the Maruti e Vitara, the EBELLA brings Toyota's reliability credentials to an already compelling EV proposition. If Toyota's legendary after-sales reputation carries over to its EV, this will be a strong competitor to the Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE 6.

Tata Sierra EV: Expected ₹20–25 lakh | H2 2026 Perhaps the most emotionally loaded launch in India's automotive calendar. The Sierra nameplate carries enormous nostalgia for 1990s Indian car enthusiasts, and Tata is leveraging that with a modern electric revival. Expect AWD on at least one variant, 500+ km claimed range, and ADAS. Expected to compete directly with the Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV.

Tata Safari EV: Expected ₹25–32 lakh | H2 2026 The three-row electric Safari will address the one segment where Tata's EV lineup currently has a gap: 7-seater electric SUVs. With the Safari platform's known road presence and Tata's safety credentials, this will be a serious 7-seater EV option against the Kia Carens Clavis EV.

Tata Altroz EV: Expected ₹12–15 lakh | Early 2027 Tata's electric premium hatchback. The Altroz is already one of the best-built cars in the mainstream segment. An EV version will complete Tata's lineup from hatchback to large SUV, and should compete strongly against the Tiago EV at a higher feature level.

    Premium Launches

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric: Expected ₹55–65 lakh | 2026 The CLA Electric is among the most anticipated luxury EV launches in India. The standard-range 200 variant claims 542 km WLTP range, while the long-range 250+ claims an astonishing 792 km, the highest WLTP range of any Mercedes EV globally. If the India pricing is competitive, this could disrupt the Volvo EX40 and BMW iX1 segment significantly.

Hyundai Inster: Expected ₹10–14 lakh | 2026 A compact city EV aimed directly at the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV. Global range of approximately 300 km. Hyundai's brand trust and service network could make this the most credible alternative to Tata's budget EV dominance.

    The VinFast Expansion

VinFast entered India with the VF 6 and VF 7 in 2025. The brand is now planning the VF MPV 7 at ₹24.49 lakh, the newest entrant in the electric MPV segment. VinFast's aggressive expansion strategy and competitive pricing are worth watching, though service network maturity remains the key risk.

    What to Watch For

    1. Maruti WagonR EV Widely rumoured at ₹8–9 lakh. If launched in 2026, this would be the most significant affordable EV launch of the year: Maruti's service network at a price that competes with the Tata Tiago EV.

    2. Mahindra BE 07 Larger sibling to the BE 6 with more family-oriented dimensions. Expected 2026–27.

    3. BMW iX3 LWB BMW's dedicated EV SUV in long-wheelbase format for the India market. Expected late 2026.

    FAQs

    1. 1. Which is the most anticipated upcoming EV in India in 2026? The Tata Sierra EV and Toyota Urban Cruiser EBELLA are the two most anticipated mainstream EV launches: the Sierra for its nostalgic nameplate and the EBELLA for Toyota's reliability credentials.

    1. 2. When will Tata Sierra EV launch in India? Tata has confirmed the Sierra EV for launch in H2 2026, with most industry estimates pointing to Q3 2026 (July–September).

    1. 3. What is the price of Mercedes CLA Electric in India? Not confirmed. It's expected between ₹55–65 lakh ex-showroom based on CBU import pricing patterns for comparable Mercedes models.

    1. 4. When is the Tata Sierra EV launching in India? Tata has confirmed the Sierra EV for H2 2026, with most industry estimates pointing to the July to September window. Expect AWD on at least one variant, 500 km plus claimed range, and ADAS.

    1. 5. Which upcoming EV will be the most affordable in 2026? The rumoured Maruti entry EV, widely reported around ₹8 to 9 lakh, would be the most significant affordable launch if it arrives in 2026, bringing Maruti's service reach to a price that rivals the Tata Tiago EV.

    1. 6. Will Toyota launch an EV in India in 2026? Yes. The Toyota Urban Cruiser EBELLA, expected around ₹16 to 19.5 lakh in Q2 2026, shares its platform with the Maruti e Vitara and brings Toyota's after-sales reputation to the mid-range EV segment.

    1. 7. Should I wait for an upcoming EV or buy now? If you have home charging and city-primary use, buying now captures running-cost savings immediately. Wait only if a specific upcoming model, such as the Sierra EV or a 7-seater, matches a need that no current EV meets.
