Porsche Cayenne Electric: India debut fixed for 30 September 2026
Quick Summary
Porsche will formally debut the Cayenne Electric in India on 30 September 2026; prices and bookings have been open since 20 November 2025 (Porsche, manufacturer claimed).
Ex-showroom prices start at 1.77 crore (Cayenne Electric) and 2.27 crore (Cayenne Turbo Electric) on Porsche India’s list (Porsche).
113 kWh battery; up to 642 km WLTP (Electric) and 623 km WLTP (Turbo). India-certified range is not published (Porsche / unconfirmed for India).
800-volt system charges at up to 390 kW, and up to 400 kW under specific conditions, for 10 to 80 per cent in under 16 minutes (Porsche).
The Turbo Electric makes up to 850 kW (1,156 PS) and does 0 to 100 kmph in 2.5 seconds; the Electric takes 4.8 seconds (Porsche).
The catch, our view: almost no Indian public charger delivers 390 kW, so the headline charging speed is theoretical here for now (TMEV view).

Porsche Cayenne Electric: India debut fixed for 30 September 2026
Porsche has fixed 30 September 2026 as the India debut of the Cayenne Electric, a 1.77 crore electric SUV whose prices and bookings have already been live since 20 November 2025. The date matters more for buyers who want to see and configure the car locally than for pricing, which Porsche India set last year. Two variants go on show: the Cayenne Electric from 1.77 crore and the Cayenne Turbo Electric from 2.27 crore, both ex-showroom. If you want to see where it sits among the luxury EVs on sale in India, the answer is at the fast, expensive end.
What Porsche has confirmed
Both cars share a newly developed 113 kWh battery on an 800-volt architecture, the company says. The standard Cayenne Electric makes 408 hp, rising to 435 hp on launch control, with 835 Nm, a 0 to 100 kmph time of 4.8 seconds and a 230 kmph top speed. The Cayenne Turbo Electric is the headline act: up to 850 kW, or 1,156 PS, with 0 to 100 kmph in 2.5 seconds, which the company claims makes it the most powerful production car it has built.
Range is quoted at up to 642 km for the Electric and up to 623 km for the Turbo, both on the WLTP cycle. Charging is the part Porsche leans on hardest: the 800-volt pack takes up to 390 kW at a suitable DC charger, and up to 400 kW under specific conditions, for a 10 to 80 per cent top-up in under 16 minutes. The Cayenne Electric is also the first Porsche offered with optional wireless charging, at up to 11 kW from a floor plate.

Figures from the Porsche Newsroom Cayenne Electric press kit and Porsche India’s price list, both accessed 31 August 2026. Range is WLTP, a European cycle; the India-certified figure is not published. The 400 kW peak applies only under specific charger and temperature conditions.
642 km is WLTP, not an Indian figure The 642 km and 623 km range figures are WLTP, measured on a European test cycle. India’s certification uses a different cycle, and Porsche has not published an India-certified number for the Cayenne Electric. Expect the real-world figure on Indian roads, in Indian heat, with the air-conditioning working, to sit below the WLTP headline. Treat 642 km as a ceiling, not a promise. |
The 390 kW question
The most quotable number here is the charging speed, and it is also the one that lands differently in India than in Europe. Porsche’s 390 kW peak needs an ultra-fast DC charger supplying more than 850 volts, and those are scarce on Indian highways, so a Cayenne Electric owner here will usually charge well below the headline. That is not a fault in the car; it is the state of the network it plugs into, which we track in our EV charging coverage. On a typical fast charger in India the car will still charge quickly by SUV standards, just nowhere near 390 kW.
For a car at this price the point is mostly academic. Owners tend to charge at home or at a destination overnight, where 11 kW or 22 kW AC covers a day’s driving comfortably, and the 800-volt speed matters only on the rare long highway run. If you are the sort of buyer who does regularly cross states, it is worth checking which corridors have chargers above 200 kW before you count on the 16-minute figure, and comparing the Cayenne’s real range against the longest-range EVs on sale.
What we still don’t know
Porsche has not published an India-certified range, so the number that matters most to an Indian buyer is still open. India-specific equipment and options, final delivery timing after the 30 September debut, and any launch-edition details are also unconfirmed. Porsche India could clarify these at the event. Until then, the WLTP range and the Europe-set specs are what is on record, and we have flagged both as such.

Price and rivals
At 1.77 crore the Cayenne Electric enters the luxury electric SUV bracket against cars such as the BMW iX, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and the Audi Q8 e-tron, and it separates itself on performance rather than price. The Turbo Electric’s 2.5-second sprint is well clear of anything else wearing an SUV badge at the money. Buyers weighing this class tend to shortlist on brand, charging convenience and rear-seat space as much as on range, which is why the WLTP figure is less decisive here than the ownership experience. You can place it among India’s top-rated EVs and follow how the market moves in our EV news.
The ThatsmyEV Take
What Porsche is really doing on 30 September 2026 is giving Indian buyers their first proper look at a car they have technically been able to order for almost a year. The pricing was set in November 2025, so this is a showroom moment, not a news one, and the interesting engineering story, an 800-volt Cayenne that keeps the shape and adds supercar acceleration, has been public for months. For anyone in the market, the debut is a chance to sit in it and configure it, little more.
The thing that will decide how it lives in India is charging, and specifically the gap between what the car can do and what the network offers. A 390 kW car on a country still building out fast charging is a mismatch that mostly does not matter, because these owners charge at home, but it does mean the single biggest number in the brochure is one you will rarely see. The range is the other soft spot: a WLTP 642 km with no India figure attached will read as optimistic to anyone who has driven an EV through a Delhi summer.
What we would tell a buyer on 31 August 2026: if you want the Cayenne Electric, there is no reason to wait for 30 September to book, because the price is already fixed and the debut adds a viewing, not a discount. Choose the standard Electric unless you genuinely value the Turbo’s 2.5-second party trick, budget for a proper home charging setup because that is where this car will actually be fed, and treat the 642 km and 390 kW figures as European ceilings until Porsche India publishes local numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will the Porsche Cayenne Electric launch in India?
Porsche will formally debut the Cayenne Electric in India on 30 September 2026, the company has confirmed. Prices and bookings have been open since 20 November 2025, so the September event is the local market introduction rather than the first price announcement.
What is the Porsche Cayenne Electric price in India?
The Cayenne Electric starts at 1.77 crore and the Cayenne Turbo Electric at 2.27 crore, both ex-showroom, on Porsche India’s price list. On-road prices add road tax and insurance and vary by city.
What is the range of the Porsche Cayenne Electric?
Porsche claims up to 642 km on the WLTP cycle for the Cayenne Electric and up to 623 km for the Turbo Electric. Those are European WLTP figures; Porsche has not published an India-certified range, and the real figure on Indian roads and cycles will be lower.
How fast does the Porsche Cayenne Electric charge?
Porsche says the 800-volt battery charges at up to 390 kW, and up to 400 kW under specific conditions, taking it from 10 to 80 per cent in under 16 minutes. In India that speed is theoretical for now, because almost no public charger delivers close to 390 kW.
What battery does the Porsche Cayenne Electric use?
Both variants use a newly developed 113 kWh battery with an 800-volt architecture, Porsche says. The same pack powers the Cayenne Electric and the far more powerful Cayenne Turbo Electric.
How powerful is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric?
The Cayenne Turbo Electric produces up to 850 kW (1,156 PS) with launch control and does 0 to 100 kmph in 2.5 seconds, Porsche claims, which makes it the most powerful production Porsche. The standard Cayenne Electric makes 408 hp and does the same sprint in 4.8 seconds.
Does the Porsche Cayenne Electric support wireless charging?
Yes. It is the first Porsche offered with an optional inductive charging system, rated at up to 11 kW, which works by parking over a floor plate, the company says. It is an option rather than standard equipment.
Is the Porsche Cayenne Electric already on sale in India?
Prices and bookings have been live in India since 20 November 2025, Porsche says, with the formal debut set for 30 September 2026. Buyers can configure and order ahead of that date, and the event should confirm India-spec equipment and delivery timing.
What are the Porsche Cayenne Electric’s rivals in India?
In the luxury electric SUV bracket the Cayenne Electric lines up against cars such as the BMW iX, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV and the Audi Q8 e-tron. It sits at the performance end of that group, with the Turbo Electric well clear of them on power.
Can Indian charging stations use the Cayenne Electric’s full charging speed?
Mostly not yet. The 390 kW peak needs an ultra-fast charger running above 850 volts, and those are rare on Indian highways, so most owners will charge far slower than the headline figure. Home or destination charging will cover day-to-day use, which is how a car at this price is usually run.
