The Kia EV6 is the car that proves performance and practicality aren't mutually exclusive in an EV. It's genuinely among the best electric cars on sale in India. Practical, spacious, enthusiastic to drive, and genuinely special with its futuristic touches.
The ₹65.97 lakh price tag makes it expensive. The 18-minute fast charge makes every rupee easier to justify.
Design
The EV6 has a very concept car-like design with an aggressive front end and a crossover-like rear. Hook-like LED DRLs and a full-width LED light bar give it a sharper look in the 2025 facelift. Flush door handles, sculpted body, and 19-inch alloys make it look genuinely futuristic without feeling over-designed.
Available in Wolf Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Runway Red, Snow White Pearl, and Yacht Blue, all available in a single GT-Line AWD variant.
Interior & Features
Inside, the dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic screens create an immersive digital cockpit. The flat floor layout gives rear passengers excellent legroom. Ambient lighting with custom modes, ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, an augmented reality HUD, and a 14-speaker Meridian audio system complete one of the most feature-rich interiors in this price segment.
V2L (Vehicle to Load) lets you power appliances directly from the car, useful during power cuts and camping. V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) lets you charge another EV from the EV6's battery.
Boot space is 490 litres, plus a 52-litre frunk, a genuinely practical for family road trips.
Performance: Where the EV6 Truly Stands Out
The EV6's dual-motor AWD setup produces 325 hp and 605 Nm, achieving 0–100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, though independent tests achieved 5.16 seconds. Roll-on acceleration is brisk: 20–80 km/h in 2.77 seconds and 40–100 km/h in 3.49 seconds.
In Sport mode, the steering weights up meaningfully, and power delivery sharpens. In Eco, the car is calm and composed for daily commuting. Drive modes are Eco, Sport, and Individual with alternative responses. Power delivery is progressive and smooth, aided by the AWD system's grip.
Despite large 19-inch wheels, ride comfort is good, firm at low speeds but smooth at higher speeds, with vertical movements well-managed. Cabin insulation is impressive and beyond, comparable to premium European EVs.
Range: The Real-World Story
The 84 kWh NMC battery is more energy-dense, lighter, and boosts WLTP range to 581 km. In real-world conditions, a combined range of 498 km was achieved. City efficiency at 5.18 km/kWh (435 km range), highway efficiency at 6.67 km/kWh (560 km range). The
498 km real-world range is genuinely exceptional. For example, Delhi to Agra and back with range to spare, or Delhi to Chandigarh with a comfortable margin. This is what makes the EV6 highway-capable in a way no sub-₹30L EV can claim.
The 18-Minute Charge: A Game Changer
This is the EV6's single most compelling feature in the Indian context. The 800V architecture and 350 kW charger compatibility mean 10–80% charge in just 18 minutes.
A meal at a highway dhaba takes 30 minutes. You're plugged in when you arrive and fully charged before the food arrives. This fundamentally changes the highway EV experience from "plan your charging stops carefully" to "charge while you eat."
350 kW chargers are still limited in India, though Kia has its own fast-charging partnerships. But 150 kW chargers at Tata Power and Thatsmycharge are widely available, and the EV6 charges at those too, just slightly slower.
Verdict
The Kia EV6 is not intended to chase volumes in India, it is a statement from Kia highlighting the brand's technological prowess and how well it is prepared for an all-electric future.
At ₹65.97 lakh, it's the most technically advanced electric car available in India below ₹70 lakh. If performance, range, and charging speed are your primary metrics, nothing available at this price comes close.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the price of the Kia EV6 in India?
Kia lists the EV6 at ₹65,97,937 ex-showroom, which is where the widely quoted ₹65.97 lakh figure comes from. There is one trim, GT-Line AWD, so there is no cheaper way into the car and no options list to trim the price with. Registration, insurance and road tax sit on top of that number.
How many variants of the Kia EV6 are sold in India?
One. Kia sells a single GT-Line AWD trim, with the dual-motor 84kWh powertrain as standard. Buyers choose paint and nothing else, from Wolf Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Runway Red, Snow White Pearl and Yacht Blue. The higher-powered GT version sold in other markets is not offered in India.
How much range does the Kia EV6 have?
Kia quotes 650 plus kilometres, ARAI certified, for the GT-Line trim. ARAI is the Indian homologation cycle, so unlike a CLTC or WLTP figure it was at least generated under Indian test rules. It is still a laboratory number produced at controlled speeds, and our own driving returned considerably less.
What is the real-world range of the Kia EV6 in India?
We recorded 498km in mixed use across our testing, against the 650 plus kilometre ARAI figure. That splits into roughly 435km in city running and 560km on the highway, at 5.18 and 6.67km per kWh respectively. Those are our measured numbers, not a manufacturer claim, and your figure will move with speed, load and air-conditioning use.
How long does the Kia EV6 take to charge?
Ten to 80 per cent takes 18 minutes on a 350kW DC charger, which is the number Kia leads with. The number that matters more in India is the 50kW one: on the chargers most owners will actually find, the same 10 to 80 per cent window takes about 73 minutes. Both figures are Kia's own.
How fast is the Kia EV6?
Kia claims 0 to 100kmph in 5.3 seconds. We recorded 5.16 seconds, slightly quicker than claimed, from the dual-motor setup making 325hp and 605Nm. Roll-on pace is the more useful measure on Indian roads: 20 to 80kmph took 2.77 seconds and 40 to 100kmph took 3.49 seconds in our testing.
What battery does the Kia EV6 use?
An 84kWh pack, mounted in Kia's E-GMP electric platform and driving both axles through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The 800-volt architecture of E-GMP is what allows the 18-minute fast-charge figure. Check your dealer paperwork for the exact battery warranty term, which Kia does not state on its India showroom page.
How safe is the Kia EV6?
The EV6 carries eight airbags and Kia's ADAS 2.0 suite with more than 25 driver-assistance functions. It holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating, which is a European protocol and not the same test as Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP. The EV6 has not been rated under Bharat NCAP, so there is no directly comparable Indian score.
How much boot space does the Kia EV6 have?
490 litres behind the rear seats, plus a 52-litre frunk under the bonnet that suits charging cables. Fold the 60:40 rear bench, which can be dropped remotely, and Kia quotes 1,300 litres. The flat floor from the dedicated EV platform is what makes the rear seat feel larger than the exterior suggests.
Does the Kia EV6 have vehicle-to-load charging?
Yes. The EV6 offers vehicle-to-load at 3.6kW, enough to run household appliances, camping equipment or a home during an outage. Vehicle-to-vehicle charging is also supported, so the car can pass charge to another EV. At 84kWh the pack holds a useful reserve for this without stranding you.
What are the Kia EV6's rivals in India?
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the closest structural rival, sharing the same E-GMP platform at a lower price and with less power. Above it sit the BMW i4 and the electric offerings from Volvo, which trade some charging speed for badge appeal. Most cross-shopping at this money is against petrol luxury SUVs rather than other EVs.
Is the Kia EV6 worth buying in India?
Buy it if charging speed is your priority and you drive long distances often, because 18 minutes on a 350kW charger and 498km of measured real range is the strongest combination at this price. Skip it if your charging is limited to 50kW units, where the 73-minute figure erodes much of the advantage you are paying for.
