Both are Chinese-origin compact electric SUVs. Both are aimed at the same urban Indian buyer who wants range, features, and a premium feel without going north of ₹30 lakh. On paper, they look like cousins. Drive them back-to-back, and they feel like completely different propositions.

    Here's the breakdown.

BYD Atto 3 vs MG ZS EV Price Comparison

MG plays the affordability card hard. The ZS EV undercuts the Atto 3 by ₹7 to 8 lakh at the base level. Even comparing top-spec to top-spec, the gap is significant. The ZS EV's top Essence variant is priced at ₹20.50 lakh, while the Atto 3's top Superior variant goes up to ₹33.99 lakh.

That's not a minor difference. That's an entirely different purchase decision. If your budget ceiling is ₹22–23 lakh, the Atto 3 isn't fully in the picture. The ZS EV is.

BYD Atto 3 vs MG ZS EV Battery & Range

The Atto 3 now offers two battery options: a 49.92 kWh pack on the entry variant and a 60.48 kWh pack on higher trims, with a top claimed range of 521 km. The ZS EV has a single 50.3 kWh pack with a claimed range of 461 km.

Real-world picture: the ZS EV delivers 300–350 km in mixed city and highway driving. The Atto 3 on the larger battery is comfortably in the 400–440 km real-world bracket. A meaningful advantage if you're a frequent highway user or want to stretch charging intervals.

The Atto 3 wins on range efficiency too, thanks to BYD's Blade Battery LFP technology, which extracts more usable energy per kWh than conventional NMC packs.

BYD Atto 3 vs MG ZS EV Charging Speed

The Atto 3 supports 70–80 kW DC fast charging (0–80% in roughly 50 minutes). The ZS EV supports 60 kW DC fast charging, taking about 60 minutes for the same charge level. Not a massive difference in daily life, but on a highway trip with a fast charger available, the Atto 3 does pull ahead.

For AC home charging, the ZS EV is actually faster. It charges to 100% in about 8–9 hours on a 7.4 kW wallbox, while the Atto 3's larger battery takes up to 10 hours (duh…obviously because the battery is bigger).

BYD Atto 3 vs MG ZS EV Performance & Drive

The Atto 3's motor puts out 204 hp and 310 Nm versus the ZS EV's 177 hp and 280 Nm — a noticeable difference when you need to overtake on a highway or merge onto a flyover at speed. The Atto 3 also has better ground clearance at 175 mm vs the ZS EV's 161 mm.

The ZS EV is adapted from an ICE platform names MG Astor, which makes it feel slightly less composed on uneven roads compared to the Atto 3's purpose-built EV underpinnings. It's not bad, just noticeable if you've driven both.

BYD Atto 3 vs MG ZS EV Interior & Features

The Atto 3 impresses with rich interior quality and an upmarket feel. The cabin is roomy, practical, and loaded with features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. The rotating centre console, ambient lighting, and BYD's ADAS suite make it feel genuinely premium.

The ZS EV's cabin is competent and well-laid-out, but it doesn't quite match the Atto 3's feel-good factor. Realistically achievable range of 300–350 km on a full charge, combined with near-identical features sets on comparable trims, makes the ZS EV a solid value pick.

Both get 6 airbags, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and an 8-year battery warranty.

BYD Atto 3 vs MG ZS EV Service Network in India

This is where MG wins clearly in 2026. MG has a wider service network reach in India, with their own charging station rollout giving it better presence in Tier-2 cities. BYD is catching up but lags, especially outside metro cities.

If you live in Delhi, Mumbai, or Bengaluru, BYD's service reach is fine. If you're in Lucknow, Jaipur, or Kochi, then MG is the safer choice for peace of mind on after-sales.

If budget and practicality come first, especially in Tier-2 cities, then the MG ZS EV is the safer, smarter pick. But if you're paying ₹25L+, the Atto 3 delivers more car: more range, more power, more premium feel, and better EV engineering.

Simple decision rule: Can your budget stretch to ₹25L+ comfortably? Go to Atto 3. You'll appreciate the extra range and performance every day. If ₹18 to 22L is the ceiling, the ZS EV delivers everything you actually need without compromise.
