BYD Atto 3 review by ThatsmyEV team
China's EV answer to the world with presence of 100 coutries
Our Take
BYD is not a startup. It is the world's largest EV manufacturer by volume, the inventor of the Blade Battery, and a company that has been building electric vehicles since 2003. The Atto 3 launched in India in January 2023 and was updated to MY25 in March 2025 with all-new Black colour interiors, a first-in-segment LFP Low Voltage Battery, and ventilated front seats on the Superior.
Battery
49.92 kWh: Dynamic (₹24.99 lakh):
Charging
DC fast charging: 70 kW (Dynamic) and 80 kW (Premium/Superior). 0–80% in approximately 50 minutes. The 50-minute window is significantly longer than the fastest-charging EVs, the Mahindra BE 6 does 20 minutes. Even the Tata Harrier EV does ~25 minutes. For home overnight charging, this is irrelevant. For buyers relying on DC charging as a daily top-up or doing frequent highway trips, 50 minutes per session is a genuine time cost.
Driving feel
The Atto 3 drives the way a well-engineered 1,680–1,750 kg mid-size EV should — composed, quiet, and planted. The e-Platform 3.0's battery-as-structural-element design lowers the centre of gravity significantly versus a conventional platform, and the result is better body control than the weight implies.
Interior and technology
12.8-inch Rotating Touchscreen, standard on all variants. The screen rotates between landscape (daily driving) and portrait (parked entertainment) orientation. The only rotating touchscreen in any production EV sold in India. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay standard. Notably responsive UI.

Unusual to recommend the top trim, but the Premium at ₹29.85 lakh has a specific problem: at that price, the Tata Harrier EV Fearless + 75, the Mahindra XEV 9e Pack TWO 79 kWh, and the Hyundai Creta Electric Excellence LR all offer comprehensive Level 2 ADAS. Spending ₹29.85 lakh on an EV with no ADAS in 2025 is hard to defend. The Superior adds ADAS, the far-side airbag, ventilated seats, and the Dirac 8-speaker system and becomes the most fully specified Atto 3.The Dynamic at ₹24.99 lakh (₹26.28 lakh on-road Delhi) is the most compelling value: Blade Battery, V2L, 360° camera, panoramic sunroof, Heat Pump, Dynaudio audio, NFC and BT key, and wireless charging at a price where the competition is significantly less generously specced on standard features. For a buyer who charges at home and prioritises battery safety and V2L utility, the Dynamic is a genuine choice.Avoid the Premium at ₹29.85 lakh unless your specific requirement is 455 km range in the Atto 3 without the Superior's price. The ₹4.14 lakh step to Superior adds ADAS, the 7th airbag, ventilated seats, and Dirac audio, all more defensible additions than the ₹4.86 lakh gap between Dynamic and Premium.
The verdict
The BYD Atto 3 MY25 is the most technically credible mid-to-large-size EV from a Chinese brand available in India. BYD is not making promises about future products, it is the world's largest EV manufacturer and the Atto 3 carries three years of Indian market feedback into its MY25 update.
