    Tesla, Inc. was founded in 2003 in San Carlos, California by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, with Elon Musk joining as chairman in 2004. Tesla single-handedly mainstreamed the modern EV with the Roadster (2008), Model S (2012), Model 3 (2017), Model Y (2020) and Cybertruck (2024).

    Tesla India entered the country in 2026 with the Model Y as a CBU import, opening Experience Centres in Mumbai and Delhi NCR. Tesla is rolling out its proprietary Supercharger network in parallel.
