    About Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki India Limited was founded in 1981 as a joint venture between the Government of India and Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan. Headquartered in New Delhi, it is India's largest passenger-vehicle maker by volume, with more than 3,900 sales outlets across 2,500+ cities.

Maruti was a late entrant to the Indian EV race. The company launched its first electric vehicle, the e Vitara, in 2025, built on Suzuki's new HEARTECT-e born-electric platform. Under MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi, Maruti has committed to launching four electric vehicles in India by 2031 and is targeting 15% of total sales from EVs and 25% from hybrids by 2030. The strategy also includes building out more than 1 lakh charging points nationwide through dealer and CPO partnerships.
